Aqiqah

For student projects that connect with the Islamic practice of Aqiqah and providing meat to people in need through Qurban Africa.

A celebration of one life can become nourishment for another. Students explore how gratitude for a new life can extend beyond one family and reach people for whom receiving meat may be uncommon.

The Problem

Many students know Aqiqah as a family occasion but may not understand how its benefit can extend to people facing food insecurity.

Driving Question

How can we understand the purpose of Aqiqah and use our learning to help its benefit reach people in need?

Possible Student Solution

Research Aqiqah, food need and responsible distribution; create an awareness or fundraising campaign; set a realistic target; and, where appropriate, contribute toward an Aqiqah arranged through Qurban Africa.
